Whatever they chose to do, Loki would not dishonor her. He wanted to take things at their own pace, but if it turned out they had to marry right away for the sake of appearances, then he would do it. He considered Sigyn his princess in any case. The only change would be making it known to the world.
If she wanted to sneak out in the morning, that was fine. He would do as she asked in that regard. If she told him to walk her home, he would do it. She was his, and he no longer cared who knew it. Perhaps it was better if they shared it with the realm. Then there would be no question.
Of course, that went in hand with explaining just what had led to the events on the yard, to his own parents at least. Frigga, he knew would never forgive him for what he had done to Sigyn. He understood now why it had been a mistake. All this time, his true feelings had been for Sigyn, and hers for him. He had betrayed both of them.
But that was not the topic at hand. They would have to talk about it still, but not now. They were having a good night, and he would do nothing to change that. "You have my word," he said sincerely, promising not to lie to or trick her. This would be a new thing for Loki, who was used to lies and trickery getting him what he wanted. Now he would have to rely on honesty, with her. It would be a challenge.
"And I want the realm to know that you are mine." He would destroy any man who so much as cast the wrong glance at her, but he kept that little thought to himself. Jealousy was part of his nature, of course. She knew that.
A chuckle sounded low in his throat as she threatened to cut a harlot. He leaned in to kiss her deeply, hungrily. She was perfection to him, no matter her temper or mood. A sudden decision made in that moment, he broke the kiss and looked at her, hoping he was not about to make a fatal error. He would bare his soul, open his heart. Somehow it felt like the most dangerous thing he had ever done.
"I would have you by my side always, for the rest of our lives. I would cherish your temper tantrums and your stubbornness. You may be flawed, but you are a part of me, and I would have you no other way." He drew a finger along her face, tracing her cheekbone.
"I have known it since the night we met. I knew it when we trained and played together. I knew it when I hurt you, and I knew it as I lay near death. I knew it when I saw you on the yard, and I know it now." He took a breath and almost looked away, but then he fixed his gaze on her eyes.
"I love you, Sigyn."

Sigyn wouldn't like having to sneak out in the morning, so nobody would talk badly about them. She was not a whore, a woman that threw herself at someone with a title, to be used for the night and thrown out in the morning! Her pride would not allow it. She just dearly hoped that Loki was not expecting her to do such thing. In consequence, they migth not have the opportunity to spend the night most of the times. Not solely for sex, but for talking and cuddling and just spending quality time with each other.
Like they were doing now. Sigyn knew, the moment she'd be out of this room, things would get complicated. Everybody had seen them and those who hadn't, had heard the gossip. Her mother would demand a heart-to-heart with her daughter. So would her father, only that it'd be the more pleasant one. Greta would ask. Sigyn didn't even dare to think about Gudrun and the other ladies.
This was the quiet before the storm.
"Good," she whispered, "I'm glad we agree on that one."
And then, with a jolt, Loki's head came closer and he kissed her fiercly, his grip on her momentarily tightening, his lips hungry. Sigyn felt a rush of heat going through her body. If she had felt that heat before tonight, it was twice as bad now that she knew how he'd ease it. No, actually, it felt twice as good. She leaned against him, pushing him back into the pillows. Sigyn was about to arrange the blanket, so she could roll atop of him and take this wherever it'd be going, when he broke the kiss and looked at her. The hunger, it was gone for now. He looked particularly fragile, almost scared. What was going on now? This night was such a turmoil of emotions, it was sweet, bitter, tormenting and much needed. She slowly blinked as he draw a line on her face, spoke softly and pulled at her heartstrings. Yet again, she felt her heart beating in her throat, those butterflies tickling her stomach from the inside. Yes, Yes, YES!, part of her wanted to exclaim, yell it from the balconies. But she coulc not possibly do that to him. Sigyn knew - felt - how hard a confession like this was on him. Instantly, when he had said those words, she cupped his cheek and lowered her face, leaned in for yet another kiss. And a peck. And another kiss. "Doubt the gods, doubt the stars. Doubt that the sky will stay in place and doubt eternity. But never doubt that I love you, Loki, son of Odin. I will for as long as I live.", she whispered against his lip. One part of her was so moved by the whole situation, she wanted to cry. Another part of her wanted to dance and just celebrate how badly she loved him, how happy it made her. And there were countless other parts that wanted to do things to him that belonged right into this bed. They all, of course, adored him.

They did agree, it seemed. The question that remained, then, was how they would reveal their previously secret love to their families, to the realm. Loki supposed it had already been done in part, due to the kiss on the yard. But that had been only a hint of what was between them; no one yet knew just how deeply they had fallen for each other. They would know, though. Stories of the love between Loki and Sigyn would be passed from friend to neighbor, all with the same warning: Do not cross one for fear of the other.
"Sigyn," he murmured, his lips brushing hers, as she swore her love in return. How could he have doubted her? They knew each other as well as they knew themselves, if not better. He could trust her with anything, including his heart. Wrapping one arm around her waist, he pulled her closer, and kissed her lips once more before making a little trail of kisses along her neck as he spoke, idly throwing out suggestions for how they could share the news.
"We'll have a small dinner, just us and them. I will bring my parents and brother, and you will bring your parents and Greta. Or we'll tell them separately. You'll stay for breakfast and I'll visit for dinner. I will ask your father for your hand in marriage. Would you like that, my love, my world? I want to marry you, perhaps not tomorrow or the next day, but whenever we wish it. But until then, I would not dishonor you by not giving you my word."
He turned his head to kiss her chin, and his hands made their way along her body. "As for now, it is just us two, alone, with a long night ahead of us." A night he would likely have spent alone, without her. Alone or pretending to be amused by the night's feast. Instead he had the woman he loved in his arms. He would make the most of this borrowed time.
He turned his body slightly so that he was leaned over her, and lowered his lips to hers for another long, sensual kiss. The taste and smell of her was intoxicating, in the most wonderful way. "You will be my undoing," he whispered across her ear, as his soft touches became caresses. "But I like it."

"Hm?", Sigyn hummed against his lips as they proceeded to kiss. Now, for the first time since they had met on the yard, she was smiling a light-hearted, carefree smile against his lips. She had every right to be light-hearted and happy! She had just been told that the man she loved loved her back! They had shared a bed for the first time, he was alive and they were cuddling! There was nothing that should darken her mood tremendously! In fact, it was about time to smile like a fool and enjoy all those butterflies in her stomach, the salty taste of his flawless skin and the warmth radiating from his body! She sighed as he pulled her closer, as his lips were trailing along her neck. Was he going to...? Again??? Not that she'd mind, but this was a side of Loki she had not been familiar with before: The lover! Sigyn had known what his laugh sounded like if he was truly amused, she knew the creases in his forehead when he was concentrating. The mild timbre of his voice when he had been explaining magic to her would forever remain in her memory. But she had not known how sweet and encouraging those moans of his were, that she had stolen from his lips earlier. She had never seen the muscles in his arm tense up as they had when he had been holding his upper body in place. Never before had she witnessed his eyes rolling into the back of his head, his breath brushing her skin when he had dropped his face into the curve of her neck. She was so curious about everything there was about him. And there'd be more. Every day, she'd get another little piece of him and in return, she'd give him the same. Sigyn could hardly wait. But Loki did not go all the way instantly. Instead, he started to talk, his voice caressing her skin. The tone was vibrating through her whole body. Sigyn was embracing his skull as he kept on kissing and teasing her. Loki was mapping out how they'd tell their families. Sigyn knew they had to and moreover, she wanted to. She would tell her parents today, not wasting a single moment of waiting. After all, she didn't want to sneak out anymore and be secretive. If her mother decided that her daughter had dishonored her, now Sigyn would have a place to go, someone to turn to. That knowledge gave her more strength than she had ever had. Moreover, he was as kind as to mention Greta. She was a servant, yes. But she was very close to Sigyn. Her eyes grew with wonder "You'd have Greta over?", she asked. However, he dropped marriage then. Marriage. Sigyn froze and pulled back, so that she could look at him. Her blue eyes, big with wonder, searched his. Did she want this? And if so, did she want this so soon? "I want it all. All of you. I'd rather have it yesterday than today, my love," she hurried to say, leaning in to put her lips on his, urgently. Of course, she'd marry him. If he got a priest into these chambers now to do the deed, Sigyn would do it without hestitation. It all sounded so good. If he, the prince, made it official, asked her to come over, then there would not be a lot of shame if staying with him, even though they had not yet tied the knot. Sigyn wanted this so badly. The idea of sleeping in her own bed, by herself, tonight was less and less appealing. Not for the sex, but his company. However - and even though it was proper Asgard protocol - she could not just enter her home with Loki and have him ask her father for her hand. Iwaldi, of dwarfish descent, loved her dearly. He might have given up fighting with her mother about her, but secretly, he had always supported her. There were probably fathers and daughters in Asgard that were closer than Sigyn and her father, but that didn't mean she didn't love him. He'd be hurt if he'd be presented with fait accompli. "Loki," Sigyn said, cupping his cheek, putting random kisses on his face. "I need to tell my father before you do that. He's a good man. I owe him as much." Neither of her parents had known how deeply Loki and Sigyn had fallen for each other, how close they had been and were. Putting her mother into this situation would be a true delight. But she didn't want to do the same with her father and Greta. "He won't object. He wants me happy,", Sigyn smiled against Loki's skin. That smile turned wider and wider. However, she didn't have too much time to think, since he was flipping her around, leaning over her and kissing her yet again. There it was, that passion, that urge as he started to caress her. Sigyn sighed sweetly, wrapping her arms around his shoulderblades to hold him in place. This was heavenly. And if things went the way she wanted them to go, they'd have more and more and more of that for thousands of years. But Sigyn suddenly went a calm and stopped to react. Silence followed. And then, she snickered. The snicker turned into a giggle and a giggle turned into a laugh. She couldn't help it. That smile on her face seemed to be illuminating the room. "We are getting married.", she smiled and bit her lip, lifting his head so she could look at him. Smile at him.

Really, Loki had no plans to let Sigyn go this evening. He wanted her in his bed, even if just to keep each other company. They could handle the matters of telling their families tomorrow. Besides, his family at least was already celebrating, and Loki did not wish to interrupt them. However, he did imagine Thor having at least one drink in honor of his brother's apparent success with a woman.
When he mentioned Greta in his plans, Sigyn was surprised, understandably. He brushed his fingers against her cheek. "Of course. She is family to you. She deserves to be a part of this." It would be strange to him, who was accustomed to treating servants as servants. But Greta was more than that to Sigyn, and he knew that well, from how Sigyn had spoken of the woman. So he would include Greta in their plans, not as a servant, but as a part of the family.
And he mentioned marriage. It had been on his mind for a long time. How Sigyn would react to the suggestion, he did not know. Neither did he want them to rush into anything. She gave him kisses, and asked for time to tell her father. It would indeed be a strange surprise for a prince to turn up at a man's doorstep and ask for his daughter's hand. "As you wish," he told her. This would give him time to propose properly as well, so there was something to be gained for both of them.
She responded to his maneuvers, as he prepared to make love to her again. He could be a greedy lover, as she would soon discover. But he cared for her deeply, and would always want her to want it as much as he did. So when she suddenly stopped, he did too, once he realized she had started to snicker.
The snicker, then the giggle made him a little uncomfortable. Was it something he was doing? By the time she started laughing, he had stopped and looked at her. She wore a radiant smile, one that made him smile as well, a little uncertainly until she explained what was on her mind. They were getting married.
"Yes," he confirmed, his smile also becoming a bit giddy. "Yes, we are." He looked at her closely. This was the woman he would spend ages with, who he would have by his side through it all. She would have their children. Yes, she was the one he chose. She was beautiful beyond reason, in more than just her looks. This was his one and only love, the one to last all of time.
"You will be a princess." He was not sure what she would think of that. He knew she preferred to avoid special attention, but with her new position would come a need to be a leader, a role model for her people. Little girls would look up to her and dream of the day when they, too, might become princesses. She would need to be strong, but he was not worried about that. She was the strongest woman he knew.
"Artists far and wide will paint and sculpt your likeness in hopes of capturing your beauty." He was just teasing her now. He tickled her stomach, hoping to get her to laugh again. He loved that laugh. He loved everything about her, even those flaws she insisted she had.
His hands started to move along her body again, more gently this time. "And I will be the luckiest man in all the nine realms," he confided, lowering his lips to hers, "for I will have you as my wife."

It was safe to say that Greta and Sigyn had a deeper connection than Sigyn and her own mother had. Of course, the woman was still a servant and she still could not dine and sit at the Allfather's table, but when it came to telling her family, Greta was definitely included in Sigyn's plans. In fact, Greta would probably be the first to know. If Sigyn managed to get into her room without being caught and interrogated by her mother, that was. Sigyn kissed Loki yet again as he confirmed Greta's status. She knew how strange treating servants like family was to him, they had talked about it when Sigyn had explained Greta's and her relationship in detail. He either understood or accepted it, both made Sigyn quite happy.
Sigyn bit her lip. Even though she had thought that she'd got married to someone she loved, if she even got married, knowing it would happen was just making her feel all kinds of nervous and happy and excited. With her hair framing her face on that pillow and her hands on his face, she just smiled. Princess. Oh, right!. Now, of course she had known that marrying a prince would make her a princess, she just had forgotten, kind of. To her, he was Loki. Not a prince of Asgard, not Odin's son. That was why she had always preferred to meet him in the woods, by themselves, so they could be the people they were, not some title. "I'll be a princess," she whispered, the tiniest bit overwhelmed by the realization, "I'll be your princess.", she corrected herself. Loki however, was a tease. Sigyn covered her face with her hands and laughed. "Don't say that, it sounds so strange to me." But yet again, he got quite serious again. He had a habit of sweeping her off her feet over and over again with those sweet words that came out of nowhere. She peeked through her fingers and finally, dropped her hands. "Oh, yes indeed, my lord. You are very lucky I'm having you.", Sigyn whispered, not sounding half as teasing as she had intended to sound. "I cannot possibly wait to leave home, Loki. I don't want to go back.", Sigyn said. Now, she was not being tortured or locked in and her parents had a huge, upper class house. But it just did not feel right to live there again, strange as it was.

Yes. His princess. She was his, for good. It felt perfect. This felt perfect, with her in his arms, smiling and laughing with him. Few things felt as natural. She was a part of him now, irreversibly, irrevocably. Loki had found what he had been looking for, though he had not even known he'd been searching.
He nodded slightly as she told him how lucky he was. He had not forgotten about what he had done, and, he was sure, neither had she. They still needed to discuss it. Before their split, he would have insisted that it was his right to do as he pleased; now he would take his punishment and deal with it. He had been wrong, this time. Whether he had the right in the first place was of no consequence; he had never intended to hurt her. He had known he would, but then again, he had never claimed to be a good man.
He had meant what he had said, however. She made him want to be better. For her, at least. For her and the children they would have. As for everyone else… what had they ever done for him? She loved him; who else did? Why should he change who he was for them, especially when even she did not want him to change himself for her?
She told him that she did not want to return home. "Then stay with me," he said softly, reaching for her hands. "After we tell our parents, we'll move you in here, set up your own chambers." The palace had more rooms than were occupied, and finding her one that suited her would be no problem.
It felt as though they were rushing into things, but perhaps they were making up for the slower pace they had taken before. Still, he was wary of giving her too little space, which led to him suggesting her own chambers. If she moved into his, they would never have time to themselves, and as much as Loki wanted her near, he also understood that too much of anything could be just as detrimental as too little.
"You need only tell me what you desire, my love, and I will make it happen." Leaning in, he stole another kiss, then gave her a small smile. If love was weakness, then why did she make him stronger? She took everything he had ever thought and turned it on its head. And it wasn't a bad feeling at all.

Good? What was good, even? So very dependant on the beholder. What was good in her mother's opinion mostly wasn't good in Sigyn's. What a Jotun cherished wasn't the same as what an Asgardian appreciated. Whether Loki was good or bad didn't matter, because things were not black and white like that. And Sigyn didn't care. She didn't want a good or a bad man. She wanted him. If he treated her badly, he'd pay the price. Of course, if the feelings she had right now would remain - and that she was sure of -, it'd be a small price. Everything was better than leaving him again. Sigyn was entirely at his mercy. If he chose to hurt her badly, he had the power to do so. Loki might not be aware of this kind of mercy he had, but he might find out soon enough.
Time and pace was so very different to those who lived as long as they did. Courting her for years or months, what did it matter? Sigyn didn't have an amazing life that she would have to trade. It could only get better. Her choice was made. It had been made long ago, she had just been conflicted. Being granted her own chambers in the palace sounded like a nice idea. He was the prince, he knew more about protocol than her. But he also wanted her close. Having her share his rooms before they had tied the knot would probably not be a thing the Allfather fancied to see. Keeping on living at her childhood home did not feel right, either. Sigyn was more than happy about his offer, even if they might turn out to share a bed every night anyway, sneaking around the palace in order to see the other. She smiled, brushing her thumb over his hand. "I'll start packing tomorrow," she confirmed his suggestion. He kissed her sweetly and Sigyn let that feeling linger on her lips. She barely managed not to lick them in order to feel the remains of his peck a little longer. A giggle and suddenly, Sigyn moved. She did quickly, almost forcefully and within a second, she was straddling him, had him pinned into the bed with her hands on his chest. "I want lots of jewellery and a horse so white, it almost shines. I want a thousand pretty dresses and pink pastries every morning as well as six strong, but dull men, who will carry me around all day so I won't have to move," she hurried to sum up her demands. Of course, she was kidding. Sigyn wanted neither of that. She had a horse and she did not care too much about the rest. She put on a quite serious face, however. Back to teasing.

If someone had told Loki that he would have won Sigyn back - sort of - slept with her, confessed his love to her, and suggested marrying her, he would have assured that someone of their own insanity. Yet here they were, together, happy. So seldom could he use that word. Sigyn made him truly happy. She was unlike anyone else he had ever known, and this relationship, even with all its ups and downs, was unlike anything he had ever experienced.
Even more surprising was how calm he felt about it all. He had been nervous at first, but now he was just happy. Happy and in love - two things he had never expected for himself. And he was excited - actually excited - to tell Thor and Odin and Frigga about their plans. Or would he be asking their permission? It would be more proper to ask, most likely, but then he seldom went about things the "proper" way.
She flipped him over quickly, surprising him with the move. Then she gave him a long list of things she wanted, with a serious face. He knew she was only teasing, of course. "Jewelry, shiny white horse, dresses, pastries. I'll get back to you on the men." He gave her a grin before leaning in for a kiss, his arms wrapped around her.
"The morning is still some time away. Until then, I can think of a few ways to pass the time." He ran his fingers along her back and grinned devilishly. "Unless you had other plans?"
------
Daylight greeted them with streams of light floating in through the window. Blinking, he sat up and started to stretch. One of his arms had been wrapped around her, and he looked back at her, admiring the way she slept so peacefully. Their night together had been perfect, but now reality was beginning to set in, and, while Loki had been ready to take care of the responsibilities that faced them then, now he was a little less certain. What if his family or hers disapproved? What would they do then? Run away, leave everything they knew, everything he had built behind?
He would do it, if it meant being with her.
Loki touched Sigyn's shoulder gently. "Good morning, my love," he whispered, a smile growing on his face. Everything would be fine. If not, he would make it so. He had never come upon a challenge he hadn't beat. This day would be no exception.
They would dress and prepare for the day, then see about speaking with their families. He knew his own relatives were probably still worried about him. Once he said what he had to say, though, his former injury would seem so insignificant.
"Yours or mine first?" he asked Sigyn once she was awake and getting ready. His tone was half-joking, but really he was being mostly serious. How they went about this could be the difference between their families' acceptance or confusion.

Sigyn had not slept this peacefully in weeks. Nestled against him, she had fallen asleep rapidly, after he had ravished her for a couple of more hours. Sigyn had been quite exhausted, but utterly, utterly happy. Falling asleep in the arms of Loki had been a first and one of the nicest feelings she had ever experienced. Loki woke up earlier than her. Actually, he was waking her up by touching her shoulder. Sigyn crinkled her nose, kept her eyes closed for now. She'd be up and awake in a second, she just needed a moment. So she lazily patted for his hand in order to get him to stop shaking her! Hand wrapped around his, she held it in place for a moment.
Fifteen minutes later, Sigyn had finished washing herself. she was wrapped in one of his tunics, because her dress had been ruined the night before. Loki had sent for the servants to gather a new dress and things Sigyn needed to look presentable. So, she had quite a bit of time on her hands, while Loki was already getting dressed. Sigyn had other plans. Kind of. She interrupted him by wrapping her arms around his middle. There was no getting dressed if she was attached to him. Craning her neck, she covered the side of his neck and his collarbone with a couple of lazy, sleepy kisses. "Yours for breakfast, mine for dinner," she repeated his earlier suggestion. This way, she would have some time to tell at least her father. Loki's family knowing already offered great opposition to whatever objection her mother would have. It was a foolproof plan. A masterplan!
"I'm so excited," Sigyn mumbled, leaning back so she could....bite his chin. "I'll just try and ignore the fact that your family happens to be the leading family of Asgard and that I'm going to have breakfast with the Allfather.", she explained. Of course, she did not mean it in a giddy, hysteric, loyal-subject-feeling-honored-kind of way. Sigyn just wanted his family to approve of her, it'd make things so much easier. If they hated her, Odin - being the king - would have so much power to put an end to this..or try to....no, she could not think about failing at making them approve. It was important.

This was something he could get used to, waking up with Sigyn next to him. They prepared for the day side by side, with several servants running errands to get everything she would need. It was far beyond usual for the servants to have to do such things; it was the first time in their service to Loki that they'd had to, actually. Sigyn was the first woman to have made it to his chambers and not gotten kicked out the next morning.
Moreover, they were all under strict directions to refer to her by her title, and Loki had been tempted to tell them to refer to her as their princess, but that would have been getting ahead of themselves, even if it was more or less true. The servants had also been dispatched to inform his parents and brother of their guest's presence, so they would not be completely surprised. He probably should have told them himself, but… he preferred it this way.
He nodded as she repeated his suggestion, which he failed to remember he had made in the first place. Their night together had been eventful, to put it mildly. One could say he had made up for lost time. Then after she had fallen asleep, he had as well, also sleeping better than he had in some time. That was what happened when one found one's soulmate, he supposed.
"Detach yourself, woman," he joked as she wrapped her arms around him. If he had been sure about his choice to marry her the night before, he was absolutely certain now. All that lay ahead of them was the task of convincing those who mattered. It would seem like an impulsive move to those who had not known of their relationship. It would take some explaining, but he was sure they could do it.
"I am not for breakfast," he teased further as she bit his chin. "We are quite a normal family, I assure you. Well…." He had to rethink that. They were not normal in any sense of the word. Especially not Thor, who would probably be eating his way out of a hangover from the night before. "Not normal, but… well, you'll see."
The servants brought Sigyn's clothes and helped her get ready, and soon they were on their way to breakfast. She looked absolutely stunning to him, and he felt proud of her. As for himself, Loki was a little nervous, but he would never show it, except to her. But now they were being watched, and he would not show weakness at a time like this. The others were already inside, he knew; he could hear their voices within. "Are you ready?" he asked, hesitating before pushing open the doors to the dining hall.

"Neverrrr!", she teased back, putting a last kiss on his lips. She knew she had to get ready. "You'd be the only normal family in the whole of Asgard," Sigyn said, actually slapping his behind. Yes, she felt comfortable like this. Who cared, he had seen every inch of her body by now, multiple times. And oh, he had seen well. The servants knocked and asked whether the Lady Sigyn wanted to get ready. They had brought a beautiful gown, that was even green! Whether Loki had ordered them to find a green one, she didn't know. But Sigyn loved how it resembled his color of choice. It showed how they matched yet again. It was as Loki and her were making their way through the palace that Sigyn started to realize how nervous she actually was. She told herself it was the fact that Loki's father was the king, but in all honesty, it wasn't. She fell back into old patterns, wanting to please people. But was it wrong? Wanting her future husband's family to like her? Of course, at the end of the day, if they didn't, what could she possibly do about it? "Ready when you are," she said, trying a smile. And then, Loki pushed the door open. The hall was vast, it surely wasn't just a dining room. But the allfather deserved an appropriate location. Odin, Frigga and Thor were sitting at the table, waiting it seemed. Thor looked a faint bit pale around his nose, which had probably been caused by the mead he had consumed last night. It must have been horrible for him, having to wait to dig in, just because his brother had business to discuss. Odin and Frigga got up. Thor followed, as if he had just woken up from a short nap. He smiled his trademark smile, though. "Good morning, Loki," Odin said in his dark timbre, "And good morning to you, Lady Sigyn," he added. It was Frigga who was hurrying over, not hestitating to fall around her son's neck. After all, she had not done this when Loki had returned the night before. Sigyn dropped a courtsey, lowered her head respectfully. "I kindly thank you for having me this morning, Allfather.", she spoke, while Frigga was still checking her son out, looking for further injuries.

Thor Odinson and his kin had been campaigning against the sons of Muspel for many a long year, and this latest battle much glory had gone to an unusual son of Odin, the dark and dour Loki. Thor won his share of victory, felling many burning legions of Muspel giants. He loved the war against Surtr, but it was the death of Frost Giants that gave him the greater glee. His foes in either Realm, Jotunn or Muspel, they all fled and bled the same. He was the Thunderer, and his might was unquestionable. Even more mighty was the heady brew he had quaffed in celebration of Asgard's grand adventures in Muspelheim. Last night was a haze of drinking, wrestling, and boasting. He recalled the songs in his honor the most, and among them the songs newly composed for his brother Loki. The Warriors Three, and Baldr the Brave had also done their part in the assault, with the warrior woman Sif rounding out his personal band in the fray. Loki had oft, in their younger days, accused Thor and his friends of being a clique, and cruelly excluding them from their sport. Thor had never thought the lanky boy that was his beloved brother would find his companions and their adventures all that thrilling. But this conquest, and Loki's participation in it, gave Thor pause. Or it would have, were he not too subdued by the demon of hangover from that mightiest of Asgardian mead, especially brewed for the Mighty Thor himself. It would surely kill a mortal man, and incapacitate an ordinary Asgardian. But Thor was Odinson, and the heir to the throne of Asgard. He would inherit the Odinforce one day, and reign supreme over all Nine Worlds of the Yggdrasil.
Loki had made his entrance into the great hall, and was greeted by Odin and Frigga as was their wont to do. His brother had come with his woman in stride, the one named Sigyn. A lesser goddess, of some renowned beauty. Thor had himself a woman as well, and she was none other than the warrior princess Sif. That woman had done things that Thor had never thought a maiden of any realm could or even would do. He was resolved to wed her one day, and make her his Lady Queen. Thor had no doubt he was favored for the throne, in fact, he knew it was his fate. So the Norns had decreed, and so Odin One-Eye the Allfather had intended at the moment of Thor's very conception. He was the future Lord of Asgard. Odin had the Uru hammer jolnir made for him, and him alone. Only one worthy may wield it, and Thor was the only one yet who could even lift the enchanted maul. He smiled, thinking of the glories he would bring to Asgard as its ruler. Ending the evil of the Jotunn would be a nice start.
"Hail, brother Loki! Lady Sigyn!" Thor said, hiding his general discomfort. He was a man of Asgard, and as such he could hold his ale or mead or what have you. He was Thor the Thunderer, bane of Muspel, scourge of the Jotunn, and the protector of Asgard and Midgard alike. He would handle this breaking of the fast as he handled anything else. With confidence, charm, and the imposing power of his very being. He was the Thunderer. He was Thor Odinson. He looked to his brother, and extended a very large hand in Loki's direction.
"I trust ye have recovered from yon grievous wounds, enough to recount the glories we won in battle together! May we soon sally forth on another adventure, perhaps to the cold and darkened halls of the jotunn...or Svartalfheim. Malekith has been exceedingly bold of late..."

Their flirting was soon interrupted by the necessity of getting ready for breakfast. Loki surely realized how unusual this was, having a lady guest for breakfast to meet his family. It had never happened before. Actually, Loki's family knew next to nothing about his trysts. Thor might have met one or two of his conquests in the past, but this was different, in so many ways.
Side by side they entered the hall, both dressed in green. Loki's green was darker, but given the little time the servants had had to locate an appropriate gown, he was happy with the result. The choice showed an unusual unity between the couple.
His family was within, ready to greet the pair. They rose as Loki and Sigyn entered. "Good morning, father, mother, brother," Loki said, his calm tone effectively hiding his small case of anxiety. "May I present Lady Sigyn, daughter of Iwaldi and Freia."
Sigyn politely and graciously thanked her hosts, while Loki was, quite expectedly, rushed at by Frigga, whose concern for him had not fade with the passing of a day. Finding that the grievous wound that had bothered him before was now fully healed, she looked him over thoroughly, just to be sure there was nothing else the others might have missed. "I'm fine, Mother," he assured her, and, once Frigga had stepped back, he clasped Thor's extended hand.
Loki could tell that the past evening's merriment had had an effect on Thor. The god could certainly handle his drinks, but even a god had his limits, and it seemed Thor had pushed them well. But Thor disguised it well, as he should. Loki chuckled as Thor spoke of future battles.
"I have only just recovered from our last adventure, dear brother. Let us enjoy this peace while it lasts." He loved his brother, but felt Thor was far too eager to jump into battle with anyone for any reason. Malekith had been bold, but he was Malekith. There was nothing surprising in that, at least to Loki. Besides, the battle was not where Loki's talents truly shone.
Loki had no idea any songs had been composed for him, and when he remembered the battle, the first thing his mind saw was himself falling to the ground. That was just the way he perceived himself. Had he attended the festivities, he would have thoroughly enjoyed being honored, but at the end of it all, would still have seen himself as the underweight weak link among his brother's friends.
A wonderful breakfast had been set out for them, with many varieties of fruits and breads, but Loki's mind was not on eating. He had to go about this the right way so as not to dishonor anyone or confuse his family into disagreement. He put on a small smile and looked from Thor to Frigga to Odin, and took Sigyn's hand in his.
"I must apologize for not being fully straightforward with you, my dearest family. Sigyn and I met at the last grand ball of ours, some months ago. We were separated for a time, and reunited yesterday, as I believe you may have seen." He squeezed her hand and blushed a little, but continued. "With your permission… we would like to marry."

The God of Thunder greeted his brother with a merriment only he could show. Somehow, the way Thor got down to business straight away, without truly acknowledging neither Loki nor her, given the fact that no one had known they were seeing each other until yesterday, angered her and made her feel at home at the same time. How very strange! Of course, she did want to feel well around his family, but some things had to happen first, had they not? Being introduced, formally. Asking for the family's permission to get married, for instance. Surviving this first meal with Loki's family.
Of course, technically, she had already shared a meal or more with the Allfather, the God of Thunder and Queen Frigga. At many balls and events. But matter of fact, she had sat at a table far away, trying to blend in so much that nobody would notice her. Until Loki had noticed her. Things had taken a straight course from there, with the little exception of their time apart.
Thor's suggestion did not find her fancy. Sigyn knew better than to voice this. Of course, she was supposed to be proud about her future husband fighting for Asgard, but she had just gotten him back. Sigyn was not ready to say goodbye to Loki just yet. She knew, in time, her life would constantly mean waiting for him to return from battle. She'd rather join him than wait. But that was not possible. Female warriors were the exception. Actually, Lady Sif was the exception. For now, Sigyn wanted a bit of time to adjust and celebrate their new found love in every way. And she needed Loki to be present and in one piece for that task.
Sigyn lowered her head in respect as Loki took her hand. However, she could not just keep quiet. "My sincerest apologies for occupying your son and brother like this. I bid fair to bestow him with all the love my heart holds.", she explained, the faintest hint of teasing affection in her voice. Sigyn kept her head low, though, especially when Odin looked at her. She could not help, but feel quite anxious about the very private meeting with the Allfather.
Frigga seemed a little overwhelmed in the most positive of ways. Clearly, no one had expected Loki to be the one conquering a woman before Thor. For now, Sigyn managed to keep her mouth shut. Even though she was quite impatient to wait for an answer. It'd change her life.
