Lunch with his sons in the past would have been such an ordinary thing. He had taken it for granted, in a way, not knowing that his two precious boys would soon be lost to him. Loki would not make that mistake again. Each moment would be precious.
He was leaving with the boys and Sigyn before Iwaldi called to him. Pausing, he turned to give Iwaldi a small smile. It was difficult, as everything Freia had so cruelly said about her husband came back to him at that moment. He patiently listened as Iwaldi spoke, glad to hear the dwarf sided with them.
"Thank you, Iwaldi," He nodded his head slightly, a wave of thoughts over what had occurred in the dungeons washing over him for a moment. Iwladi would perhaps be unhappy with what Loki had done. Love was love, after all, even misguided and unrequited.
He started to leave, but turned and added, "There will always be a place for you among us, no matter what happens." They would make arrangements for him, somehow.
"Will you join us for lunch?" Loki asked, extending a hand toward him, to walk with him to the dining room if he so chose.

"Of course, son," he said, patting Loki's lower arm and pushed him a little, so that he'd proceed to walk.
Sigyn had put the boys at the table already. They were arguing, chatting, laughing and Sigyn was just staring at them, watchign them. There had been times when she had been exhausted, times of tension. She had always loved her sons dearly, had never even doubted that, but even a loving mother was worn out and desired some peace and quiet. Not anymore. Even a cough, a sneeze or a laugh would be precious from now on. There was this inner voice that begged her not to pamper the boys too much. Sigyn did not want to raise brats. But the love and thankfulness for their return was probably getting the better of her.
The moment Loki sat down next to her, she took his hand under the table and squeezed it. He looked exhausted. Sigyn would help him relax later. She owed him as much.
"Father, mother said we could get horses soon!", Narvi asked, already stuffing himself with bread, "I want a big one! As big as Sleipnir!", the boy begged. Many arrangements had to be made. First on their list was probably telling the king and queen about their grandsons.

The walk from the guest room to the dining hall was not a long one, and soon Loki was back in the presence of his sons. What a sight they were - all lively and talkative and happy. It was a sight he had grown unaccustomed to, over the ages without them. But fatherhood was not easily unlearned, and as Narvi spoke of horses as he sat down, a smile formed on his face, already preparing his answer.
He squeezed Sigyn's hand in return as he looked at the boys and Iwaldi. Loki was indeed quite tired, for the day had already proven long thanks to the trouble Freia had caused, in addition to the general boredom of having to remain in the palace, and the stress of needing to explain things to his own parents. After that was all done, perhaps he would take a late nap. Aside from playing with his sons, there was little else to do in any case.
"You may have a horse as big as grandfather's when you are as big as him," Loki joked, tousling Narvi's hair, as he so often did. "You are small yet, so we will start you with a pony. Now save some room for your lunch, you don't want to be full of bread and watch us eat the rest of the nice things," he added, reaching for a roll as he spoke.
