Her unease over being watched was noticeable, at least to Loki, who knew her expressions well. When she glanced at him, he gave her a reassuring smile. She would have to grow used to this, for the life of a royal was very public. Her actions would be scrutinized, her choices questioned. Never to her face, of course. But she would hear the rumors. She could then choose to care, or not. Loki, of course, generally did not. Likewise, his princess should not need to care.
The palace servants were waiting dutifully, of course. They would have been scolded had they not been there with the items he needed. But they had not expected him to bring company. He let them follow him to his chambers, then turned to face them, a new expression on his face. Weak he may have been physically, but he would not allow his servants to think he was weak in any other way.
There was something regal in the way he looked at them, a prince preparing to exercise his power. Yet the servants recognized something else in his eyes, something unfamiliar. The maiden offered him assistance, and without even having to look at Sigyn, Loki knew what her answer would be.
"No, I will be quite alright. Please leave those items on the table. Then report to my parents and brother and extend my apologies for being absent. We may join them later on. Then you are dismissed for the night. Go out and celebrate. All Asgard should rejoice this night."
The orders given, he turned to Sigyn, expecting the servants to leave, which they did. He sighed at the interruption and began to peel off the broken bits of his armor. The pieces he set aside, for no real reason. The state of his armor was somewhat upsetting, but hardly a concern of his considering the circumstances of the moment.
"Welcome to my home," he told Sigyn, giving her a sideways smile. This was not how he had expected things to happen either, but they had, and they would make the best of it.
With some difficulty due to his injury, he began to remove his tunic, which, being the only one he'd had to wear, was caked in dirt and blood at the bottom. His bandages were in a similar condition, and desperately needed refreshing. He did not ask for help, but it would be clear that he needed it, and he would not refuse her if she tried.

Authority lay heavy in his voice as he was talking to his servants. Her mother used the same tone on her staff. Sigyn was different, mainly because her handmaiden had practically raised her. Greta and her family sometimes felt more like family to her, than her own parents. The line between servant and friend had blurred long ago. Sigyn waited patiently, until the servants were out of the room. This was way better! What was not good was looking starting to remove his armor himself. He was injured! So Sigyn walked over to him and put her hands on his, searching his gaze. "Let me," she said calmly. On the inside, nothing was calm! She'd do it and she wanted to do it, but fixing him meant he'd have to undress and that was kind of....well, Sigyn was not exactly used to undressing men, especially not ones she happened to be in love with. She'd have to suck it up for his sake. "Thank you." Carefully, she lifted the tunic off his skin, losening it first. It reeked. In fact, the whole of Loki was reeking. He was quite dirty. It didn't bother her, though. As long as she'd find a wound in the process of healing under these layers, she'd be fine. However, Sigyn was beet-red, cheeks flushed, voice thin. "You need to tell me should I hurt you,", she informed him, lifting her gaze from his torso to his eyes. This felt so fragile and so good, yet now that the adrenaline was gone, she could not recall having ever been this nervous.

When Sigyn offered to help him, he looked at her and stopped, lowering his arms to his sides. He disliked asking for help, and she probably knew it. Had she not been present, he might have allowed the servants to aid him, but only because of how tired he had been. Otherwise, he preferred doing things himself. In this case, though, he had a feeling it would be different.
The gentle touch of her hands against his skin was soothing, more so than he had expected. Again he thought that this was the way it always should have been. Him coming home to her, them caring for each other. They needn't be alone, not while the other existed.
Not until she removed the tunic did he recognize just how bad he smelled. It couldn't be helped, of course, but it was a little embarrassing. Nevertheless, she remained unaffected, even as he wrinkled his nose a bit.
That wasn't to say she was entirely comfortable. He could see her blushing furiously. She looked up at him, and he met her gaze. When he spoke, his words had nothing to do with the matter of being hurt.
"You have nothing to fear from me." It was a gentle reminder, that no matter what he had done in the past, he respected her. This was an awkward situation, to be sure, but he would not take advantage of it, or of her. This time would be different with them, if she gave him another chance.
"Some thrice-accursed demon caught me off guard," he explained bitterly. "Thor saved me." Nothing stung as much as the knowledge that he had needed his older brother's help. Oh, they rescued each other often in battle, and in general, for they were close and loved each other. But he had never had to save Thor from imminent death.
He looked at her again, the bitterness now gone from his features. "...Thank you." He had not expected her help, but he was unbelievably grateful for it.

"I'm not afraid of you," she immediately said. Her voice was quiet, almost just a whisper. It had to do with the fragility of this moment. Speaking in a louder volume would not worsen his injuries, for sure. But until an hour ago, neither of them had expected this to happen, expected anything to happen between them, ever again. After all, Sigyn hadn't even known whether he was alive or dead.
Unless, you decide to break my heart again., Sigyn thought. No physical injury compared to the pain she had felt about him, about his betrayal, about him being haughty about it. That was the thing: Sigyn feared she'd never be able to abandon him and that exposed her to the danger of getting hurt again. He didn't know the depth of her devastation. She barley knew herself.
She blinked irregularly often. The image of a demon in her mind, Loki in battle, Loki getting hurt. Sigyn winced. "They said you had passed. No one knew for sure," Sigyn whispered in a voice as shaky as leaves in autumn. Saying it out loud hurt. He was standing right in front of her, alive. She needed to get it together. "it was then that I realized how much you.....that I missed you too much to bear it."
Of course, the ghost of Loki and his former lover was there, in the room, right with them. And Sigyn would talk about it. She just didn't want to do it now. She didn't want him to start to apologize and beg her for forgiveness - if he even felt that way. Not now. Later, yes. In this moment, she just wanted to savour from having him with her. From being here. From smelling that incredibly aweful stench of battle on him, everything. Sigyn knew about the complications of the princes' relationship. Loki probably did not like bieng saved by Thor. By anyone, for that matter. "I'm glad he did."
Now, Loki was standing in front of her, the only thing covering his bare chest being the bandages around his torso. He looked pale. Even though not being as fit as his brother, his muscles were clearly defined, covered in that fair skin of his. Like porcelain. A while ago, Sigyn had expected to be confronted with this kind of nakedness on different terms. Only briefly did her gaze linger on his pectorals. She lifted it, looked into his green orbs. "What for?" Oh, there were a lot of things coming to her mind. She was not suggesting there was nothing to be thankful for. Pick one thing to begin with, she thought, maybe a little gleefully even.

Gently, Loki brushed his hand against Sigyn's cheek. He felt somewhat lightheaded, but not from his injuries, not from a loss of blood. He was nervous. Should he say something wrong, should he do something to upset her, this delicate renewal they had constructed would go crumbling to the ground. That was the last thing he wanted. So he barely spoke, for fear of doing something stupid again. He could not lose her.
She told him of the rumors, and he bowed his head. He remembered Thor leaning over him, remembered seeing vague faces and familiar voices as they tried to save him. In a faded voice, he told her what he had feared then. "I thought… I was lost. I thought I would die."
But Thor had saved him, and he had made it home, miracle of miracles. And she had been there, waiting for him. She had missed him. Just as he had missed her.
What was he thankful for? Her, to put it simply. "For being here, for helping me. For… our past." For every day they had spent together, for every secret they had shared and kept. There was so much he could say, and so few ways to say it.
He twined his fingers among hers and raised them to his lips. It felt so good to be near her again, no matter the outcome. Yet there was something between them that needed to be said. He could feel it lingering in the air just as she did. Kissing her fingers lightly, he gave her a soft smile.
"Everyone will know now," he said, referring to their kiss in the yard. The words were accompanied by a grin. He was happy about that fact. He would have talks with each of his parents and Thor, and he would have to give the story three times, explain the pain he had caused her three times. It was a problem he was glad to have.
Letting go of her hand, he turned to where the servants had left the bandages and the herbs. Oddly, he felt tired yet full of energy. He knew he should rest, but he was used to doing things himself, and even with Sigyn there, he found it hard to break the habit.

She choked. That lump in her throat was so big, she could barely swallow it. So he had not died, but he had been close to. Almost, she would have lost him, even though she hadn't even had him at the time of the attack. Sigyn was so unbelievably thankful for how it had turned out. She had the chance to put things right. And right now, she was putting them right. "Shh," she said, pulling her brows together as she watched him kiss her fingers. Her stomach was tickling like crazy, but it was a good kind of feeling. She hadn't thought she'd experience that again, yet she was standing here. Hard to imagine a servant would take care of him like that. Why should he, for wasn't it her duty to make sure he was okay? It felt like this. Finally, Loki grinned and Sigyn couldn't help but mirror it. She even chuckled. Still, she remained nervous. There were so many things unsaid between them, yet they subtly, quietly absolutely agreed, it seemed. He would not have kissed her, would not have turned to her like this in the yard, hadn't he pure intentions, intentions different than taking her to bed after a feast to kick her out in the morning and never talk to her again. "We did not exactly handle this secretly," she said, biting her lip. She knew he was not worried, he seemed....happy about it. And so was she. But old habits died hard and so Loki was about to change his bandages himself. Sigyn followed quickly, stopped him. "Nonsense, Loki. Let me do that," she objected, putting her hand on the bandages. But Sigyn frowned. "You should take a bath before putting these on. You reek, my love," it was a tease, but she was being sincere. There was no use in wrapping him into clean bandages, when the remnants of battle still stuck to his skin. But she grinned. She was not offended or disgusted. After all, he had fought to keep her safe, too. A little stench was not so bad.
But this put her into an awkward situation. Bathing equaled nudity. Sigyn did not want to depart, not even for an hour, yet - beneath all that strength and control over herself - the idea of a naked man, the idea of a lover, was turning her into a teenager that wanted to blush and giggle. She hated this, because it did not match the rest of her personality. However, she couldn't help it. "Would you like me to give you some privacy for a while?", Sigyn asked, yet again locking her fingers with his.

The possibility of death had never crossed Loki's mind, even in the midst of intense battle, until the moment he almost did. He had tried not to think about what had happened in that moment since then. Now, though, as he saw her expression in reaction to his words, he saw the scene again, involuntarily. He had given up then, in many ways. And somehow, even with the victory they had achieved, he had come back home defeated.
Defeated, that is, until he had seen Sigyn. Now, if they could just sort the matter that still lingered between them, he would have achieved the greatest victory Asgard had ever known.
He chuckled. They had not handled this secretly, no. "I'm glad we didn't," he told her, just to make sure she knew. He was proud of her, proud to be hers, and it was past time everyone realized it.
But the wound was getting to him, and he moved to change its bandage. Sigyn stopped him, and he paused, glanced at her and frowned as she did, though he did not know why they were frowning until she pointed out that he stunk. She was right, of course. "That is the smell of victory," he teased back, because she was grinning. He had missed that grin.
It had occurred to him already that his bathing might make her uncomfortable. It made little difference to him, but then again this would not be the first time a woman had seen him naked. It would be the first time the woman had any significance to him, though.
"No. But it will be as you wish." The words came out a little more softly than usual. It was up to her - he would not mind if she chose to wait elsewhere. He wanted her at his side, surely, but not if it would make her uneasy.
Depending on her decision, he would either help her get settled in his room before leaving for the bathchamber, or he would bring her with him. There was hardly anyone indoors at the moment, as everyone was still gathered outside, which Loki found convenient. He wasn't excited about even the servants seeing him as such a mess.

"It will never leave my memory," she retorted, mirroring his grin. It wouldn't, because it was just the most intense stench of blood, sweat, dirt and wine she had ever smelled in her entire life. There was no way of getting it out of her nose forever. It wasn't exactly about stinking, though, rather about being clean. And Sigyn was pretty sure, he'd feel a hundred times better once he was clean.
So did she want him to go by himself. No. Did she want more awkwardness? Well, it couldn't be helped, could it? Moreover, Sigyn wanted to prove to herself that she was indeed not an Asgardian teenager. She was putting up with her mother, using magic, standing her ground and now she was going to shy away from supporting Loki, just because he'd be naked during the process. She had just gotten him back, even the thought of him leaving for so much as half an hour did not feel good. Besides, he was still wounded.
The way he talked to her, so soft, so considerate, in such contradiction to his rant when she had taken off the day he had confessed to her, made her skin tingle and her stomach clench. Carefully, but quickly and regardless of his smell, she put her hands on his arms and her lips on his, kissing him yet again. This time, it was a softer kiss, more intimate. No one was watching, no point needed to be made. She didn't want to stop. She wanted to bury her face in that flawless chest of his and sigh and let him hold her. Given his condition, this would have to be postponed. "I just got you back," she whispered against his lips and eventually, followed him.
His bathing chamber was as glorious as the rest of the palace. The moment they entered, a servant entered as well. His staff was very attentive. He was bringing water and towels. Sigyn was kind of glad it was a boy, not a girl. She felt that slight sting of being protective, even jealous. How odd. Well, she could not be blamed, after all he had bedded a woman even though they had already been seeing each other. Before the servant could assume that it was his to do, Sigyn started to unwrap the bandages from Loki's body. Bandages. It's just bandages. I'm not going to unwrap anything else., she thought, giggling and cursing at her thoughts inwardly at the same time. Eventually, she uncovered the wound. Sigyn stared.
She knew he had started to heal and he had done a good job. But assuming how this wound had looked right after it had been inflicted on him,...she couldn't. It was just horrible. It as an honest injury, the mark of battle, the fate of every warrior. But still, it must have been very painful. It probably still was. While she was taking care of Loki, the servant started to fill the tub. Carefully, Sigyn dropped the bandages into a pile on the ground, blushed the faintest bit as she looked up at Loki again. Damn, she wanted to keep her cool. Of course, she didn't touch the wound. Her gaze went from his stomach to his face and back. "You must've been in so much pain," she whispered, almost gasped. She knew this was not appropriate. A warrior did not complain about pain, a woman should cherish said pain, because it was a resemblance of honor, achievement. Yet she couldn't help it. Nobody wanted the ones they loved in pain, did they?

That feeling of lightheartedness, the goofy grin that he could not shake, what did they mean? Had he not known better, Loki might have attributed some of it to the pain in his side, but he knew it had nothing to do with the wound. It was her, Sigyn, and the way they just matched each other. She was back, a part of his world again, as easily as though she had never left. Aside from the talk they still needed to have, they had picked up from where they had left off. Or rather, they had picked up somewhere new, with a deeper understanding of each other and especially themselves now that they had been apart.
He tapped her nose lightly at her retort, still smiling. In that moment, she could have convinced him that she was perfection. Perhaps she was. If not, she would have been the first to fool the trickster. And somehow, the thought did not even bother him.
The kiss was unexpected and beautiful. It told him so much, of the pain she had endured, and the happiness she felt now. For the time that it lasted, he let himself fade into the kiss, into her. Nothing had ever felt as perfect. "And I will not leave you again," he whispered back, a promise he would do everything in his power to keep.
As they walked through the palace, it occurred to Loki that the time would come soon when she would meet his family. Before, the thought had made him a bit nervous. Now he could not have been more ready for it to happen. He wanted her to meet them, to see what Odin would think of her, to see her bond with Frigga. And Thor - he had no clue what Thor would do, but it would likely be hilarious. He would approve of her, Loki thought.
She began to unwrap his bandages. They had stuck to him quite solidly, thanks to the blood and dirt. The discomfort was nothing, though, and soon he was free of the bandages. The wound had been healing very slowly over time, fighting off infection as it did. Still, it had a formidable look about it. He understood why Sigyn seemed so shocked by the sight of it.
Had he been in pain? At the time, it had been the most pain he had ever endured. And it still stung, especially when he thought about it. To anyone else, he would have said "It was nothing" and laughed it off, even though the opposite was true. Sigyn would see through those words, though; there was no sense in even uttering them. "Yes," he said quietly. The pain had given him blackouts for days and days, but she did not need to know that.
Soon the bath was filled, adding a bit of warmth to the room. "Thank you," Loki said to the servant boy, who took the subtle hint and left. Now they were alone again. He expected they had some time before anyone came looking for them, and he was glad she had chosen to accompany him, as he realized they would probably not be alone again for a long time once his family got to him.
Of course, now he had to undress. Again without asking for help, he began to remove his remaining garments, allowing her time to glance away if she preferred to. He set the clothes aside; they were probably ruined for good. He doubted he would wear them again in any case.
He slipped into the bath, grimacing a bit as the water touched the wound. The herbs and fresh bandages had been left next to the towels, so that everything they needed was within reach. Looking up, he caught Sigyn's gaze, and tried to read the expression on her face. Had he been too forward again, in suggesting that she accompany him?
He closed his eyes and leaned back, for the moment letting everything fade away except Sigyn's presence. She made everything bearable.

What did his promise even mean? And I will not leave you again. He would not have left her back then, either. He had asked her to be more understanding, less angry and just go with the fact that he had had sex with another woman. So if she wanted to be a bitch about it, Sigyn might as well laugh bitterly and inform him that the problem was not exactly her fear to be left. No, she had not believed he'd depart and never return to her. She was scared he would do other things that'd hurt her, especially since she knew - or thought - that she would never, under no circumstances, live her life without him. That gave him more power over her than the thread of ditching her.
But Sigyn was filled with hormones and relief in this moment. She did not want to think about his unruly act, about possible unruly acts to follow. She just wanted to be with him, celebrate his return, celebrate their reunion. Whatever this would mean.
She sighed as he confirmed her suspicion. It was over now, though. He'd heal. It would possibly not take him long to get back to his old self. Sigyn couldn't wait. But in contrast to him, she was not thinking about his family. Imagining being introduced to Odin, Frigga and Thor would be quite presumptuous, since it was Loki's decision to do so. She had confessed her love to him, expressedly or by taking action. There was nothing else she could do for now. There was no need to rush anything to begin with. However, Loki hadn't even managed five months of chastity. Would he be drawing this out forever?
The servant left as the tub was filled. Oh, by the Allfather, Sigyn thought. She did want to look at him, only to prove that she didn't mind. But on the other hand, by all means, she didn't want to look. It ended in a very awkward rythm of staring away and looking at him. Problem was, with Loki undressing, it was almot impossible to concentrate on his face. Sigyn could not have been happier once he was in the actual tub, even though the water's surface did not quite cover up the view. So she decided to sit by the end of the tub, where his head lay. At first, she was kind of nervous, her hands were in her lap. Her skin was itching to touch him, yet he was naked. Oh well,.... Eventually, Sigyn carefully put her hands into the tub, where the junction of his neck and shoulders was, and started to gently massage his tense muscles. "Have you,......have you seen her again?", she asked quietly, out of the blue. After all, Loki had suggested that the woman might be pregnant. Now, Sigyn needed to know. She did not want to fight about it now. But talking was not fighting, was it?

The water was soothing, even though it caused his wound more discomfort. Had he thought about it, he might have seen it as a cleansing, a washing away of all that had happened. The battle, the time without her, his indiscretions. With his eyes closed, he could pretend none of it existed. It was only temporary, of course, and he knew it. But for now….
He felt her hands fall on his skin and begin massaging his muscles, and he exhaled quietly, relieved again by her touch. He felt butterflies stir in the pit of his stomach; the fact that he was in a state of undress, albeit in the tub, did not exactly help matters. He could imagine those nimble hands caressing him… later. For now, he needed to snap out of it. There was a purpose to this bath, as mundane as it was.
But when she mentioned her, Loki opened his eyes slightly, allowing himself to be slowly pulled back into reality. He had wanted to talk about this. Yet when she broached the subject, he found himself wishing the conversation was already over.
At first he thought she was asking whether he had slept with the woman again, but as he started to answer, he noted something in her voice that indicated otherwise. She was asking about the child. How much more considerate and perfect could she be?
He did not answer for a long time. Really his response should have been simple, consisting of the one word no, but he wanted to phrase it in a way that did not make him sound like an utter jerk. He had not spoken to the woman, but then again, she had not contacted him either, and it had been some time. Perhaps she had realized based on past experience that Loki would have little to do with the child in any case. Loki knew he was a bad father, but there was a reason for that. It prevented him from being a worse father.
Besides, he had not wanted to talk to anyone since the day after his split with Sigyn. He had even avoided his own family. They knew nothing of what had happened, and he had planned to keep it that way for as long as possible. He knew they were tired of him getting into these situations. Especially his mother, who found it dishonorable. He was beginning to understand why that was.
"No," he said, his voice softer than it had ever been. "We have not been in touch at all. I have…." Been moping around the palace all this time is what he thought, but did not say. "I have not been a good father in the past, Sigyn. It is better that I let them be. Then they do not…" …suffer… "…develop as I have."
She would disagree with his chosen approach to parenting, he was sure. Perhaps it was better if they fought, and got it over with. If there was much to fight over. He knew now he had hurt her enough; he had no plans do do any worse.

Good, mighty Allfather! Sigyn had not exactly thought this through! Loki naked in the tub, her hands on his skin! No, for someone that had not even touched a man before, drawing such conclusions just didn't happen. So perhaps, it was a good thing she raised this topic, before Loki could raise anything else. Sigyn would possibly not have managed to keep her teenage self quiet!
She still did not have any intention of starting this fight now. Loki was worn out and so was she. Moreover, if they had this conversation, she wanted him to be healthy and strong, just so he could not hide behind his wound. Sigyn was not so sure she could keep her hands to herself if they fought about that woman and worse, his unruly behaviour afterwards. It was a selfish reason, but if she wanted to get it out of her system, she had to fully let it out, not muted by the care and worry she had for him.
Her hands came to rest on his shoulders as he spoke. He seemed so vulnerable, so soft. It pulled at her heartstrings, made her want to protect him. Such a ridiculous thought! He was a god and a prince, older than her, a man. Shouldn't he be the one doing the protecting? Or maybe, both of them would make sure the other was safe?
Sigyn closed her eyes and exhaled defeatedly as he explained his reasons. She was not so sure whether there was more to it than this. "Loki, if you do this to protect me, you do,-", she interrupted him. But he finished by doubting his own person. It broke her heart yet again. She could not take this. She could not have a person like him think so little of himself. Of course, he was flawed for if he weren't, he wouldn't have slept with this woman to begin with. But a person was more than just the sum of her flaws. He was so much more. They were. Sigyn sighed again, got up and got rid of her dress silently. Luckily, she was wearing a camisole and underskirt, white as innocence. "Scoot forward," she gently said. As he did, Sigyn climbed into the tub behind him. She would have loved to nestle against his chest, but he was still wounded. So it'd be the other way round, Sigyn's back against the tub and Loki right in front of her, her legs to either side of his body. Her overwhelming compassion for him in this moment muted all the anxiety and awkwardness and so she tugged at his shoulders and made him lie back. I am not naked. Thank Odin.
"It's your decision and yours alone. But never doubt yourself, Loki. You're a wonderful person. I admit, you can be an utter arse, but never ever doubt that you are beautiful the way it is. I think you are. Beautiful.", she whispered. This situation was so much more complicated than she had thought. But Sigyn wanted to figure it out. She had to.

In this moment, Loki would have done anything to protect Sigyn. Not so in the past, of course, for then he would never have cheated on her. But now he could fix what he had broken, if he could only stop being so damned weak. At least it was only she who would see him like this, she whom he had learned to trust. Even with all he had told her, even after the way they had parted, she had not betrayed him. For him, that spoke volumes.
There was rustling, and Loki craned his neck to see what she was doing. She had taken off her dress and was now climbing into the tub behind him. Her underclothes would be wet, after this, and he would not allow her to leave the palace in damp clothing. But surely there was something she could wear somewhere on the massive grounds. Otherwise, he would send a servant to fetch her something. He would look after her.
Once she was settled in, Loki leaned back and rested his head next to hers. Fortunately, he was slender and not so much heavier than her, otherwise he would have worried about crushing her. His hand came to rest on her other cheek. He'd never thought he would have this chance again. And this time, he was going to cherish it.
Was he a wonderful person? He did doubt it sometimes. Often. But if she believed in him, then so could he. How different this all was - he here without the walls and façades to protect him, not pretending to be stronger than he was. As he had to with his family and his friends, and most certainly before his people.
"If I am beautiful, it is because you bring out the beauty in me." He saw how he could be considered an arse, but he knew the only time he was this way, this beautiful, was when he was with her. Alone with her. She was the only place he was safe.
Closing his eyes again, he reached for her hand and squeezed it. The others would be moving indoors soon, to prepare for the celebratory feast. It was the sort of event he normally would have attended, given the conditions. He would have been honored for fighting so valiantly and everyone would have fawned over his injury and much ego-stroking would have occurred. Now he wanted none of it. He could probably skip it and blame his injury. There would be time for his family to interrogate him later.
"You are an incredible woman," he said, not knowing whether the words would mean anything to her, but wanting to say them all the same. Did she deserve better than him? Quite possibly. But he needed her, he knew that now.
This time, he'd earn her love.

Loki was clearly the one planning ahead, for Sigyn had not even thought about the consequences of climbing into the tub with him. Her hair would be ruined, she'd have to change her clothes somehow and her mother would clearly ask what in Asgard had put her in this situation. Given that her mother had been one of the people witnessing the kiss on the yard earlier, that might turn out quite a discussion. Sigyn might actually want to tell her exactly how she had come to look that indecent. She wasn't spiteful often, but this felt different.
His head was so close and his back against her front. Could he hear her heart race in her chest? There was a tingling sensation stretching from her innermost to her fingertips and toes, even the warmth of the water could not alleviate it.
She moaned a tiny moan as he said that, of relief and confusion. Sigyn believed him, but it was a strange confession. Here she was, brought up being taught that she fancied all the wrong things and now someone was telling her that she was amazing just the way she was. And it wasn't even just any person, it was Loki. Sigyn pushed her cheek against his, that hung slightly lower against her face. There were a lot of things going through her mind. The compassionate part of her wanted to tell him that he should find that woman and at least find out whether he was going to be a father. Another small part of her wanted to tell him that she would not have any doubt their own children would be amazing and that he'd bring them up as a good father. But that thought was just a little too much, making the second step before even having walked the firs. The amount of things she had to say was overwhelming, yet not a single word escaped her lips. Sigyn didn't know whether she wanted to cry or laugh or just fall asleep right here. Of course, there'd be a celebration and at least Loki would be expected to show up, if he even could given his injury.
Still, they were just two people in love in a bathroom, not a prince and a lady. Why not just ignore all the details, all the struggles connected, all the things left unsaid for now? And when he finally complimented her, she ever so slightly turned her face, slowly. Her lips brushed his upper lip and Sigyn adjusted her position, sinking down, until finally, the faint touch turned into a kiss. There was pain in it, despair. But this pain, this despair, would be taken care of. Loki had broken her heart, it was still not put together again. Sigyn could only hope he'd try to make it up to her, she did not want to turn bitter. She wanted a fresh start. And so, slowly, she lifted her hand to hold his cheek, his head in place so that he couldn't withdraw and let that kiss linger. If he so pleased, that was.

Though of course Loki could not read her thoughts, he had no plans for Sigyn to look indecent in any way. She would certainly look different than she had before entering the palace, in a different dress perhaps loaned by Frigga or fetched by a servant, and that might cause a bit of spectacle for anyone who noticed. But nothing indecent had happened between them; he respected and would not dishonor her again.
The noise she made was strange to him, filled with too much emotion for him to decipher. Did she believe him? She should, for he was not using words just to win her back. He was being honest, as he always had been with her. He was being honest and hoping for the best. Hoping that his honesty would not push her away, after all they had been through together.
They had a choice to make now, regarding their attendance of the feast. If they even bothered to attend, he wanted her to meet his family privately first, for it was only right that they should learn of her before the rest of Asgard did. Then they could appear side by side before everyone. The expectation would be set that they would marry soon and have children and such, and, if things worked out, perhaps they would. But at their own pace.
That could be sorted out in a bit. For now, he felt comfortable as they were, quietly contemplative as he leaned against her. Then she kissed him, and he felt an odd sensation, an overwhelming sadness. He had hurt her deeply, he knew. But the depths of this despair were stunning even to him.
Yet he wanted to remember this feeling, so that he would not cause it in her again. He let her lips linger as long as she wished. When they finally parted, he lifted a hand to touch her cheek, his expression clouded.
"They will want to see us," he said softly, meaning his family and hers and all who would attend the evening's festivities.
